Transboundary support through GIZ

Project Objectives

The project objectives are to ensure that: basin-level management reflects local government and community priorities; SADC members actively participate in achieving the objectives of the Regional Strategic Action Plan (RSAP) and Regional Strategic Water Infrastructure Development Project (RSWIDP); and SADC and GIZ plans are aligned behind the priorities of the member states.

Project Description

The aim of the programme is to improve the management of international water resources in SADC by increasing the political awareness of management of resources at the river basin level.

Project Components

The programme is designed to support the following components:

  • Strengthening of SADC Water Division, RBOs and Water Utilities
  • RBO Exchange Programme
