Tender Opportunity:
DRILLING AND CONSTRUCTION OF MONITORING BOREHOLES ALONG THE MOHOKARE RIVER
The Orange-Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM), with support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), managed to secure financial support from Global Environment Facility (GEF) to implement selected priority activities of the Orange-Senqu Strategic Action Plan (SAP). This project is
aimed to support the government of Lesotho in effective management of the Mohokare Catchment. This is being done through the support to the Department of Water Affairs (DWA) to expand its groundwater monitoring network along the Mohokare River. This expansion involves drilling an additional ten (10) monitoring boreholes along the Mohokare/Caledon River, supplementing the existing network with the capability to measure groundwater quality parameters. These new boreholes will enhance the existing network’s capabilities by enabling the measurement of groundwater quality parameters. This substantial endeavor is expected to significantly bolster the Department’s ability to conduct comprehensive evaluations and supervision of groundwater resources.
2. OBJECTIVE
To support the Department of Water Affairs through the drilling of 10 boreholes along the Mohokare / Caledon River to monitor groundwater quality and quantity.
3. SCOPE OF WORK
The drilling work is scheduled to take place along the Mohokare/Caledon River in the Botha-Bothe, Leribe, Berea, Maseru, Berea, and Mafeteng Districts. This endeavour will be divided into three distinct lots, namely the Upper, Middle, and Lower Mohokare sub catchments, and all three will be executed concurrently.
