4th Orange-Senqu River Basin Symposium, 6th – 7th June 2012, Campus of the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa
The University of the Free State (UFS) in collaboration with the Department of Water Affairs (Free State Province), and the Orange-Senqu River Commission (ORASECOM) is organising the 4th ORANGE-SENQU RIVER BASIN SYMPOSIUM that will be held from the 6th to the 7th of June 2012 at the CR Swart Auditorium, in the Campus of the University of the Free State, in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The theme of the symposium is INTEGRATED WATER MANAGEMENT. The Symposium aims annually to provide a forum and a communication channel between academics, researchers, public officials (local to national, government and parastatal), industry, suppliers, consultants and development organisations interested and affected by the Orange-Senqu River Catchment. Issues of importance are the provision of safe drinking water and sanitation; the need to supply enough water for agriculture for food security and the utilisation of water for potential hydropower, which is needed for socio-economic development; the management of water resources in an efficient and sustainable manner so that we can protect the environment and ecosystems.
