The African Transboundary River Basin Support Programme came to an end
The EU’s African Transboundary River Basin Support Programme to ORASECOM officially ended in August 2011. The EU support has provided a different, but still critical support role for ORASECOM. Rather than focusing on the delivery of technical tools and a common understanding of basin characteristics, the EU support programme focussed on working with us to better understand our mandate and how we can best support the Parties with technical advice. The key contributions from this programme have been the establishment of the ORASECOM Communications Strategy, and the production of a wide range of awareness and promotional items over the 3 ½ years of the project. The programme has also gone a long way towards helping ORASECOM understand its legal mandate, and the core components of international water law.
